Peri-implantitis is currently the most common cause of implant failure after osseointegration failures. Peri-implantitis and the precursor condition, Peri-implant mucositis, is preventable with appropriate patient and clinical maintenance protocols. Systematic reviews recently published by our laboratories (Temple University) indicate that the prevalence of peri-implantitis may be as high as 66%. Proper implant maintenance protocols should be initiated at implant treatment planning and reinforced with patients at each successive post operative appointment. Current strategies for implant maintenance include recognition of medical and medication risk factors impacting on bone loss around implants as well as in office maintenance procedures coupled with optimizing patient home care. This CE webinar will present current data illustrating preventive strategies for peri-implantitis.
This CE webinar will address: • Current strategies for implant maintenance • Recognition of medical and medication risk factors impacting on bone loss around implants • In-office maintenance procedures coupled with optimizing patient home care • Present current data illustrating preventive strategies for peri-implantitis
