This one hour CE webinar will be devoted to the basics of cannabis (marijuana). Thirty-two states have legalized marijuana for medical use. Eleven states and the District of Columbia have legalized marijuana for recreational purposes. Inevitably, some of these marijuana users will be treated by the dentist or dental hygienist. What is it? Does it have any medicinal use? Is marijuana addicting? Does marijuana produce any oral signs or symptoms? Are there drug interactions between marijuana and dental drugs? What are “shatter”, “wax”, “dab” or “scat” and how do they differ? This CE webinar will discuss some of the concerns about marijuana use/abuse, and its bearing on dental treatment.
In this CE webinar, the participant will learn: • the physical characteristics of marijuana • the evidence supporting medicinal uses • the meaning of shatter, dab, wax, and scat • impact of patient use of marijuana on dental treatment
